My Photography

I am not a photographer but photography is a creative mode of expression that I particularly enjoy and it's through those lenses that I invite you to view my work. My very first love was music, but almost as though on its tiptoes, photography followed closely behind and I have been snapping away since I was 12 years old. I have a soft spot for black and white photos and some of my favourite shots were taken whilst working with NGOs in Africa and the Middle East. Some of my photos have won awards, made it to book covers and have been exhibited in London. Overall the photos below are a sample, some are single shots while others belong to a series.

I find that photography is like a lingering sound. Music captures the flow while a photograph - it presses pause and forces you to look at something specific (what Roland Barthes calls the punctum), brings it right up in front of your nose and leaves you no choice but to contemplate (or ignore).

Perhaps more than anything, photography is a conversation between the photographer and the viewer about that which they find is expressed in the photograph, that certain something that pulls them in. Barthes says "Whatever it grants to vision and whatever its manner, a photograph is always invisible: it is not it that we see." As you browse let me leave you with the question, what do you see?
